Developing life skills and leadership through football

Barclays Game On part of England Football was developed by the Youth Sport Trust (YST) in partnership with England Football. Barclays Game On is designed to support secondary schools to engage girls in curriculum physical education through a life skills approach, using football as the vehicle. The curriculum training is complimented by peer leadership training for girls’ football activators who will be given the tools to deliver extra-curricular opportunities for their peers.
 
Programme aims:
  • Improve the PE experience for girls through teachers adopting a life skills approach to PE using football as the vehicle
  • Increase the number of girls participating and enjoying football related activities
  • Develop girls in leadership roles as Football Activators to create and deliver relevant and enjoyable opportunities for more girls in their school
  • Support girls’ to transition into community football opportunities.

To access the training for Barclays Game On: Teach you will need to be working in a Barclays Girls’ Football School Partnership by England Football network school. The aim of this programme is to support teachers to engage girls’ in curriculum PE through a life skills approach, using football as the vehicle.
